Margaret Curnow
My Mum, Margaret Curnow, set a great example by breastfeeding me, my brother and my sister. She was a breastfeeding counsellor and group leader with the Nursing Mothers’ Association of Australia (NMAA), now the Australian Breastfeeding Association (ABA). So I grew up knowing that breastfeeding was the normal way to feed a baby. When I had my son four and a half years ago, Mum gave me a gift membership to the ABA. She was, of course, very supportive of me breastfeeding for as long as possible, including in public. Mum also gave my sister-in-law a gift membership to the ABA when she and my brother had their first child.
