Just do it!
My advice to new mamas nervous about breastfeeding in public is just get out and do it as soon as possible.
My daughter came home from the hospital at 3 days old, on day 4 the midwife visited and sent us back to the hospital for suspected jaundice (she didn’t have it).
It was the last place we wanted to be and in our hurry to get out the door I forgot the nursing cover I’d bought. While we waited on the children’s ward she needed feeding so I really had no choice. I knew the most important thing for successful breastfeeding was a relaxed mummy so I took a deep breath, turned the uncomfortable plastic chair to the window and got on with it.
As we started driving home in the rush hour traffic she woke hungry and I knew we’d be at least half an hour home so we stopped at a nearby supermarket and went to the cafe to feed her.
It was a bit of a baptism by fire but I’ve never looked back, I’ll feed her anywhere and that cover I bought? I’ve used it twice!!
